Adjustment to Ashcreek Meet start time tomorrow due to heat

    Hi Parents,

Our parent rep and Ashcreek's parent rep have been in discussions about tomorrow's meet. Yes we know it is going to be extremely hot, but both teams did not want to change the date (or cancel). With this being said, we are adjusting the timing and some adjustments to seating. Also if you feel it is unsafe for your child to swim, it is optional for them to participate.

    Meet setup start time: 4:30pm

    Swimmer/volunteer check in: 5:45pm

    6:00pm Timers Meeting

    6:15pm Officials Meeting

    6-6:10pm Ashcreek warm ups (optional)

    6:10-6:20pm THAT warm ups (optional)

    6:30pm Meet start

The pool management company is pumping in colder water to help with pool water temperatures.

Families are also able to bring popup tents, chairs, blankets etc to sit on the lawn area directly outside the guard shack. The concrete will be hot.

Parents please keep an eye on your swimmers to make sure they are not exhibiting signs of dehydration. GRAL  sent out an email about best practices. We will have water and Gatorade for purchase.

Please also remind your swimmers to wear appropriate footwear on the pool deck, as high concrete temperatures can cause burns or injury.

    Nutrition & Hydration Best Practices:

    Before the Meet:

    • Stay hydrated throughout the day with water and electrolyte drinks.
    • Eat a light, balanced meal 1–2 hours before the meet.
    • Avoid greasy or sugary foods prior to competition.

    During the Meet:

    • Please sit in the shade as much as possible.
    • Please continue to  hydrate and consume electrolytes, and use of cooling methods like cold towels or fans.

    After the Meet:

    • Continue hydration and recovery with water-rich fruits, smoothies, or light protein-based snacks.
    • Watch for symptoms of heat-related illness, including dizziness, nausea, or cramps.

    Thanks! Jody
